A message of Hope for Change from our next Alderman

My dear friends,

Many of you have asked me over the past eight months to consider running for Alderman at Large, in order to help rebuild and re-energize this great city of Aurora .

We need to promote and build an environment favorable to the creation of new jobs. We must look at our city's budget and cut the fat and waste from it so we can have lower taxes.

We must support and improve our police department’s ability to electronically monitor convicted sex offenders. Keeping our children safe from these predators has always been a priority for me.

I know one man can not do this alone. But, one man must start the journey so that all of us can re-take our city and bring back its pride.

So let me say here and now, I am in to win it...... I know that you, my friends and neighbors will help carry the message to "BACK MATT in 2011" for Aurora 's Alderman at Large.

I thank you for your support and look forward to serving you.

Cheers, Matt Harrington

  1. My dear friends,

In the Beacon News dated June 2, 2010 Mr. Anthony Stanford wrote a very informative column regarding set asides for minority and women owned businesses.

I whole heartily agree that the city should create a playing field that is fair for all who wish to win these contracts.

The idea of a fair and equal chance for all to compete for city contracts, especially the under served women and minority business owners here within our own boarders, is one that will only make Aurora a better place to live and work.

While I am glad that Alderman Richard Irvine supported this resolution. I am disappointed by his remarks from an earlier Beacon News article regarding his job and what he thinks his limits are for the people of Aurora .

As Alderman Irvine stated, it is not his job to bring in business so that our city can grow and our taxes can be lowered. No, that is the Mayor's Job not his.

So I ask, how can you agree with me on the idea of women and minority owned businesses getting a little help in their ability to win these contracts, if you are not willing to go out of your way to create new business opportunities within our city?

    Sincerely

    Matt Harrington

And I have to say that the hate and misdirected anger to some of the people is getting no where.

I have read the amazing things that he has done which can be found threw links on his blog page

My hope is that we can find common ground and build a better way for Aurora. Elect new leaders how have proven that they are for all people not just some people. I ask that you read the Beacon News that I have copied and pasted to this comment.

    Sincerely

  3. Do us all a favor and pack your carpet bagging sack up and get out of this race.

You really do not know your ass from a hole in the ground in regard to Aurora.

All you are doing is diminishing the odds of a qualified candidate who knows what Aurora needs from entering the race.

Wow I have read some stupid comments on here but this person just keeps going and going.

First it's demeaning the 3rd ward alderman by commenting on how she looks in shorts.

Now again this moron try's to push out a person who show courage, idea's and who bring a new since of hope to us here in Aurora.

To me, when you are saying that Mr. Harrington a carpetbagger. Well that's just a great honor you have given him.

I tend to remember a candidate, from a while ago who was claimed as a carpetbagger. That person went on to fight for the rights of all people. The rich and poor, blacks and whites. as well as the rainbow of all races. That man was R.F.K,

I just recently meet Mr. Harrington, at a local political meeting.

And I must say, that his man reminds me of RFK. So go head you small minded twit how hides behind your computer screen eating cheese balls and watching porn, wondering why their life sucks so much.

let me tell you why, it's because your I.Q. is Equal to your dick size, small and pathetic....

Matt don't even think about leaving the race. We need a man like you in office, not some limp dick moron who is afraid of their shadow.

    Go Paul Go,

you hit the nail on the head. Regarding the idiot who wants Matt out of the race. Who else is running? Even Irvin, said he doesn't know if he want to run.

Open-line, please we do not need idiot's like that person on here any longer. This should be a place of free and open exchange of ideas and opinions, not hate and anger to people that show courage or women who are in office.

I agree with some of the earlier comments. That you the host have the power to stop this hate. And if you don't. You should be held in contempt and I hope that the 3rd ward alderman file a law suite against you for millions.

Show some backbone, and lick off that idiot. Don't let that person back in anymore.

I understand, the persons right to advocate one position and to openly express themselves But some of the comments are just bloody wrong, and you know it.

It is not open line that needs to worry about law suits but the comments to the blog by anonymous that needs to worry that what they say can be used against them.

Sounds like the man out of Chicago who wants to run for Alderman.

No Job, no ties to the community, just wants to fleece Aurora.

The Police Chief, Fire Chief, Any Dept head is appointed by the Mayor, Alderman etc, get over it and go on with life.

To the person who wrote THE above comment.

If I wright something to be publicly published, then I would have proudly placed my name on it.

Unlike others, who leave comments and remarks to whom only use the name "Anonymous Said....."

That only show a person to be small in courage as well as small in mind.

Do us all a favor show us how you can stand up and be counted, put your name forth.

If not, then why should we care about anything you might have to say. To say it with no name, is to say nothing at all !

To the idiot who says Matt has no job. You are so far off the mark, I know Matt Harrington.

His Company The Chicago Consortium Group. Has been apart of many real estate investment from Hotels and casino's to Section 8 housing as well as senior living programs.

His firm receives hundreds of thousands of dollars for Reality TV Shows concepts.

A firm that take only a very small fee for Campaign management so he can hire students and teach them how to be part of something greater then themselves.

A firm, that has given millions of dollars to food panties and charity's without asking or seeking publicity for it.

A man who seeks to help people because he cares. And not for what it might bring in reconnection.

I know, if Matt is elected to the office of Alderman. He probably give every dime of compensation away to a community charity.

Here is a man, that gave his kidney away to save a young black woman life.

A woman he never meet until a random encounter with the girl's mother.

I know Matt has money, some say millions.

He dose things only to make a better day and way, for people who struggles every day. As his mother did. Who was a nurse in a small community hospital on the west-side of Chicago bring up 5 kid alone.

This is a man who embody public service.

I for one want to back Matt in 2011.
